Group therapy is a powerful therapeutic intervention that combines an individual's healing journey with that of others. Group therapy offers benefits that compliment and enrich a therapeutic journey. Group therapy is often held as a part of a series (ex. 6 weeks, 8 weeks, etc.) and during those weeks group members develop familiarity with other members of the group, become comfortable exploring group themes and topics, and will build a tool kit of knowledge and perspectives related to the topic of the group. Group therapy is not only an opportunity to explore your own ideas and perspectives but also to witness others and engage relationally which is where we are known to heal. Each group experience will look unique depending on the topic, however you can always expect to feel safe yet challenged in a group setting. Group therapy is about the collective and how we each bring inherent value and perspective to contribute to the greater whole.
