therapist she/her
My primary aim with clients is in providing the space where they may develop an internal foundation of safety and discover a deep self knowing. I am intentional about cultivating an empowering and collaborative environment, striving to establish client autonomy and confidence in their intuitive ability to navigate toward vibrant whole health and alignment. I believe sharp honesty, authenticity, and reverence for the client lay the groundwork for the expansive and transformative evolution that we experience in this work.
My client focus
I specialize in complex trauma, post traumatic growth (more widely know as PTSD), and chronic pain. I support folx in the queer community or individuals navigating identity-based stress and systemic marginalization. My clients are typically those who been in therapy before but felt talk therapy or behavioral approaches like CBT did not work for them. They’re often thoughtful, self-aware, and ready for a different kind of experience — one that moves beyond managing symptoms and toward deeper integration.
My therapeutic approach
With a foundation in a holistic approach to wellness, I consider the complexity of each individual's context; their internal, external, and transpersonal worlds. My practice is politically informed and I am intentional about taking a liberatory, feminist and decolonial approach to healing. Feminist therapy and liberation psychology identifies how one’s personal power has been suppressed or taken from them by societal oppressive structures, and focuses on the reclamation of their intrinsic power. This framework emphasizes the systemic source of "pathological” behavior and thought patterns, decentralizing the individual as the source of the symptomology. De-colonized psychology dismantles the Eurocentric individualistic, perspective on mental wellness and affirms non-western forms of healing. There is great importance placed on community, spirituality, ancestry, and the flattening of hierarchy especially in the theraputic arena.
As tools in this work I use EMDR and Internal Family Systems therapy for release and integration. IFS, or Parts work explores the various facets of ourselves, like our child self, our defensive self or our perfectionist self. In my work with clients I strive to help those parts find their voice and begin trusting the core Self to make space to live aligned with compassion and acceptance. These parts have needs and wounds that often must be expressed for healing to take place. Finally, I use EMDR to address these wounds. EMDR is a treatment that helps your brain to adaptively reprocess trauma so that it no longer holds the power in your internal system. At its core, my approach is somatically focused; the energetic body is always relevant and guides my work with clients.
